Laverys

  12 Bradbury Place      (+44) (0)28 9087 1106     more than a year ago
This three-storey drinking den has long been home to a colourful clientele of old boys, bikers, students and dead-heads. Its enduring charm makes 'Lavs' one of Belfast's hardy old bars and an absolute must for pub crawlers and music enthusiasts. On the first floor, the Bunker attracts high profile guest DJs and live acts, as well as running alternative club nights most week nights (see separate listing). The Ballroom, Laverys' refurbished and renovated pool hall is a must see for all cue sharks. Complete with open air roof terrace/smoking area, it combines a classic billiards hall with the dynamic of a modern club. Don't miss the Saturday night club CONTRAST - a massive party across both rooms.

The ground floor of Belfast’s oldest family-run bar is a real trad classic, with the ornate Gin Palace (aka Public Bar) offering friendly banter, great sports coverage, top notch food (12-9), 'Pull your own pint' tables and a traditional music session every Mon & Tues night. The more rustic Back Bar and Beer Garden exude an earthy feel with nightly free music events running the gamut of rock to reggae and folk to funk. Go on, fill yer boots.

Used to go here quite often. Visited again last night and it's really gone downhill. Customer service is non exsistent and the doormen are disgustingly rude. Can't say that I'll be back again in a hurry.
