Krioelende Beestjes
Fri 8 - Sat 30 July
Krioelende Beestjes (Creepy Crawlies) features work by two sets of sisters, Lotus and Surya de Wit and Geraldine and Helen Kane. The pieces are based on storytelling, rituals and fantasy inspired by memories from childhood. Based in NI, Lotus makes jewellery and miniature silverware using precious metals, and her work for this exhibition will include functional and sculptural small scale silverware such as tea infusers and strainers, as well as miniature silver sculptures. Surya de Wit is based in the Netherlands and her work for this exhibition consists of larger than life mixed media wall hangings. The pieces combine realist painting with three-dimensional fabric and intricately embroidered designs, as well as fibre optics and LEDs. Geraldine Kane is a Tokyo-based jeweller who uses precious metals, wood, textiles and stones in her designs. For this exhibition she has created pieces which are inspired by the ritual of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. And NI-based Helen Kane has created jewellery made from hand printed textiles.
