Whatever you call it,
Dimanche,
Domenica or
Domingo... there's nothing quite like a Sunday. It's the one day of the week when we can take things at a slower pace, enjoy days out with the family or relax at home with the Sunday papers.
Up until now, Belfast has been a bit of a slow burner when it comes to Sundays – most shops don't start trading until 13:00 and the only places guaranteed to have their doors wide open are the churches (a throwback to our puritanical roots). Well, all that's about to change with the city's new
Summer Sundays campaign.
So why hang around at the airport or languish in the hotel reception when you could be out and about on the city streets this summer? Here are some of the cultural centres and events designed to get your Sundays off to a flying start. Events run until end Sept.
The
Belfast Circus will be performing free street theatre in
Cotton Court (opposite the Merchant Hotel) every hour from 13:00 - 16:00. And there'll be live music, classic film and puppet shows at the
Black Box from 13:30 - 17:00.
Between shows check out
Belfast Print Workshop's eclectic collection of contemporary prints. The gallery will also be running afternoon workshops for your creative delight. The acclaimed and innovative
Golden Thread Gallery will also open from 11:30 - 16:00.
There's more cultural curiosities at
Belfast Exposed with the superb photographic gallery hosting exhibitions, talks and workshops throughout the summer. A free 2hr
Art Gallery Tour will also leave here at
11:00 to explore the area's creative hubs.
If you're musically inclined, then get on-board the new
Belfast Music Tour. Departing from the Ulster Hall at 14:00, the tour rock and rolls around Belfast revealing the places connected with local legends such as Van Morrison, Ruby Murray and The Undertones. The tour finishes at the new Belfast Music Exhibition in the
Oh Yeah Centre, Gordon St.

So there you go, at last Sunday mornings in Belfast really are worth getting out of bed for.
