Ulster Hall

Ulster Hall
Over the years this grand old Victorian building has hosted international boxing, orchestra recitals, rock bands, comedy... and iconic names as diverse as Charles Dickens, The Rolling Stones and Belfast-born singer Ruby Murray. Its main interior feature is the magnificently restored Mulholland Organ, named after a former Belfast Mayor who funded its purchase. During WW2, the venue was used as a dance hall to entertain US troops based in the city. And its rock claim to fame is that is was the location for Led Zeppelin's first public performance of Stairway to Heaven. The hall has long been the city's social heartbeat and, following a major renovation, continues to attract a diverse range of year-round events and entertainment. It is also the home of the internationally acclaimed Ulster Orchestra. If you're feeling peckish, check out the foyer's Café Grand Dame, and peruse the exhibition telling the story of this lauded space.
