Belfast & Northern Ireland

Newforge House

Let this Georgian country house, and member of Ireland's Blue Book, seduce you with its open fires, original features and romantic rural setting. Owner John Mathers and his wife Louise have created a warm and welcoming retreat in this picture perfect home that has been in the family for six generations.

Six individually furnished en-suite bedrooms effortlessly blend contemporary touches such as modern bathrooms and White Company toiletries, with antiques, prints and four poster beds evoking its 18th century origins.

John is also Newforge's chef, and takes particular pride in serving local provenance food, from breakfast's Moyallon Dry Cure Back Bacon to the kitchen garden's own fruit and veg. Jerusalem Artichoke soup and Saddle of Coopershill Venison are among the seasonal three-course dining options that complete this outstanding overnight experience.

Explore the surrounding gardens, take the short drive to Moira and Lurgan, or make it your base for daytrips to Belfast, Derry or the Causeway coast.
