Open from early, and you can bet your last coins that no matter what time you arrive there’ll already be a barfly nursing a lager. Living up to its name Amsterdam replicates the narrow streets of the Netherlands with walls decorated with lines of fake doors and windows, with the only omission being red lights and hookers. Sat between these aging decorations are plenty of wobbly high chairs and beaten-up tables, and it’s not too difficult to imagine yourself sat in one of the brown cafes the Dutch are so famous for. Head here at night when the valves are loosened and the atmosphere cranks to breaking point.
