A venerable institution is Wegliszek, and one that features secessionist stained glass windows and theatrical drapes. The crowd is largely middle aged, intellectual and drunk, with the plastered barflies happy to be seen in their granddad jumpers. The faint undertone of spilt beer and body odour adds to a defiant ‘we are artists’ atmosphere, and the walls and stage occasionally herald live music and photo exhibits.
