We are thinking of visiting Gdansk in around June 2020. Can you please tell me, I am partially disabled and as such have to use a small electric mobility scooter to get around as I have difficulty walking. Would I be able to use buses to get around or would I be reliant on taxis. Thank you.

We had lovely trip in Gdansk on last week with bigger group. I was the leader of the trip. But I would like give feed back about some negative experience, so You can noted it for all visitors, and develop Your lovely city more safety. Here is two exp. -One lady of our group was blind. Our group walking on main street, so two young man try to steal her handback at the her shoulder. We was lucky, we noted it! It was really cowardly. -Secondly, our big group was on terrace for drinking. After that waiter try to charge us twice! When I noted that, we really give feed back to her. She didn't at least any apology!? Have a nice day...:)

The 24th December is the most important day in the Polish Christmas celebrations. That said most people will be in work that morning and will leave early to prepare the evening meal. This means that shopping malls and many bars and restaurants will begin closing in late afternoon. The first and second days of Christmas are also public holidays and most things will be closed and people return to work on the 28th. Years ago this would have meant everything would be closed but these days more and more restaurants, cafes, bars and smaller, privately owned stores stay open (by law the owner has to be on the premises). So there will be places to go and eat and drink - major shopping won''t be possible though.

Thanks for the message. The city is not entirely wheelchair friendly and some of the central streets are cobbled. That said, most businesses such as hotels and restaurants have made greater efforts in recent years to make their premises more accessible and some of the new buses and trains are also more accessible. As I say though, it is not completely wheelchair friendly. We were asked for help with finding a wheelchair a few months back and we put the reader in touch with a company in the old town of Gdansk The company we contacted is called http://www.rehatrans.pl/ At the time they told us that they would provide a wheelchair to the hotel if you ask your hotel reception to contact them on this number. (+48) 506 551 932 I hope that helps.
