Over-eager waiters swoop like vultures on solo diners, though the enthusiasm of these frontline troops is clearly wasted on such a venture. Previously described as ‘desperate and despondent’, what was formerly the Kreta restaurant has re-emerged as the equally glum Sakarya. Find lonely chefs stalking between plastic pillars and the Greek detritus left by the previous occupants, only stirred by the accidental intrusion of curious tourists. Portions are huge, enough to have the tables creaking, though for the most part your grilled and skewered meats will need to be excavated from under a covering of cabbage; not unlike Sphinx, though with none of the atmosphere or happy meal price tags.

The food wasn't bad, but the service was exactly as described. My friends and I were walking along the waterfront trying to decide on where to eat. This restaurant didn't have a menu outside so we walked towards the door to see if we could see one. Immediately the host opened the door and told us to come in. We asked to see a menu and the waitress told us "Of course, but please, sit down first." So we were unwittingly roped into eating there. They try way too hard to be "helpful" in their recommendations. When the host asked my friend if she liked pizza, she said yes and he said she could have the minced meat pizza. (Which she didn't exactly want...) and I decided to try the ayran because I like yogurt, but the ayran here is more like kefir than yogurt.
