Sweets

Polish food is a conundrum. On one hand you have stodgy, gut clogging mains, on the other delectable desserts that stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best. What to get? Pączki are your donuts, krówki are fudge style snacks, pierniki your gingerbread and faworki a deliciously light pastry topped with a scattering of sugar. Leave room for the sernik, the Polish take on cheesecake, but stand warned it sometimes comes with the quite needless addition of raisins. All of the following are stalwarts in their trade with bullet-proof reputations.
