Presented by an all-male staff the menu here offers is simple but well done and served promptly and at reasonable prices. It's changed since it early days as a national chain when it offered kebabs and chips (created by some character called Tom Maltom) and now fills that gap occupied by the Beefeater/Harvester chains in the UK - a family diner offering primarily steaks, ribs and burgers in good value portions.

But hey - considering their only competition is the sleazy "kebap" joints sullying almost every corner, Sphinx does a decent job. At least they know what the hell a kebab really is, and will oblige if you request extra spice. These other joints serve greasy, fatty shawarma in odd-smelling bread under the guise "kebap".
