Museum of Fables [Muzeum Baśni]

Did you know Kashubian witches sleep in wheelbarrows? Or that if a witch casts a spell while you’re churning butter she can reverse any misfortune that may have been cast on you? Well, these are a couple of things you’ll find out when visiting The Museum of Fables. Run by a woman who implies she is Borowa Ciotka (the Queen of the Woods – a legendary Kashubian witch), the museum is a simple two room affair packed with a collection of 40 witches brooms, folk art, traditional folk dresses and witch dolls sat atop of mini-brooms. Although in a slightly dog-eared area, you’ll be able to identify her house by the giant broom that gets erected on the roof each summer. Spinning her tales, fables and demonstrating rituals (love potions, bonfires, spells…) this is like nothing you’ve seen before.  If you’ve got any special requests then do call in advance, her English is good enough to communicate, though a translator is necessary  for German speakers.

Admission free.
