Cafe Zakątek

This intimate, veteran cafe is still one of the best in the Old Town, and a quiet, welcome escape from the tourist stampedes on ul. Grodzka. Hidden in the back of a courtyard, Zakątek is indeed ideal for hiding out with a book while listening to a vinyl record from their large collection on the old player. Decorated with botanical studies and woven rugs, enjoy good coffee, sandwiches for 7-9zł and a small selection of fresh-baked desserts. Delightful. Recently, a second location has opened on Pl. Wolnica serving sandwiches and bagels.

I had a bad feeling when i walked into this place. There were 4 waitress/staff all between about 15-18 yrs old.I ordered a Classic sandwich. I then waited 20 minutes, even though the place was almost empty. It arrived it & with a sense of foreboding, i attempted a mouthful. It was rock hard, dry with minimal filling & was missing the horseradish sauce altogther. I ate one third before paying & leaving to find lunch elsewhere!!
