This city-centre bargain near Mały Rynek features a creamy interior livened by bright orange tablecloths and garden dining in the back during the summer. While the atmosphere and interior may invoke the Mediterranean, the 19zł lunch menu (Mon-Sat 12:00 – 17:00) isn't above simple favourites like cheeseburgers, and Sunday's brunch (12:00-16:00) features American pancakes with bacon, or BBQ ribs. The dinner menu reveals no lack of creative muscle with dishes like 'Rabbit leg caramelized in honey, braised in red wine and plums' at affordable prices, and the wine list is longer than your arm. Aperitif is an all round delight.

  As I sat in the window of Apertif's Provence interior, eating a cheeseburger, listening to Bueno Vista Social Club on the speakers and looking out over one of the most beautiful cities of Eastern Europe, I couldn't help but feel utterly delighted by the harmonious union of these seemingly strange contrasts. I highly recommend Apertif.
