Just off the market square, this free museum/gallery/shop displays exquisite pieces of amber art, special pieces with unique inclusions, plus exhibits about amber's origin and history as part of Polish culture. Inside you'll learn why and how amber has earned its status as a precious stone and come to appreciate its many forms and colours. There are also temporary exhibits of ancient and modern amber art, and guided tours can be arranged.

Amber Museum

In addition to the exhibits, the Amber Museum includes a laboratory with a spectroscope where you can test the purity of different samples or even bring your own amber to test and get officially certified. In addition, there's the Boruni Gallery flagship shop (open 10:00-20:00) selling contemporary amber jewellery and timeless products and designs from top Polish and Lithuanian producers. The museum also includes a reading room, cafe and even a seasonal garden where you can relax for a bit. If you want to take a more intimate look at amber while in Kraków, this is the place to do it.

You'll find other Boruni shop locations inside the Cloth Hall (stand numbers 23, 29, 36) and ul. Grodzka 60.

Average visiting time: 40mins.
