King Square

The shopping experience in Poland has become largely Westernised with large, well-planned shops stocked with much the same thing you’d find in London, Milan or Cleveland, Ohio. But you won’t find recognisable names like H&M at this newly built mall; in fact, we doubt you'll recognise any of these 100 or so shops selling everything from clothing to toys to jewellery to lingerie. While the prices are ridiculously low, the same sometimes goes for quality, but that’s beside the point. Shopkeepers are ready to put you into anything and encourage you to keep trying until you buy, even going so far as to fetch clothes or shoes from another (perhaps related, perhaps not) shop that match your size or style. If the airline lost your luggage or you just want some new duds without going into hock, give it a try by hopping tram no. 20 to the ‘Kuklińskiego’ stop and walking a short bit southwest; or take trams 3, 6, 7, 9, 13, 50 or 51 to ‘Powstańców Wielkopolskich’ and walk about a kilometre northeast.
