At your Service
With car crime on the rise it’s recommended you take advantage of one of the guarded car parks marked on our map. Finding one should not pose a problem, as pretty much every derelict piece of wasteland in the centre has been turned into an improvised car park, guarded by chaps in orange jackets, and with the added bonus of gangs of pre-teen boys stalking around with buckets of foam. They’re there to wash your vehicle, but only in exchange for a cursory fee. Car theft is not the only menace drivers face in Łódź. The city is essentially a cobweb of one-way streets, and the simplest journey can often turn into a test of anger management. In the hope of making your existence a little less miserable we’ve marked all the one way routes in our map overleaf. For the pedestrians amongst you we’ve also labelled the tenement blocks on ulica. Piotrkowska by their street number, thereby cutting down your chances of wandering straight past that hidden courtyard you were looking for.
