When you eat at a Magda Gessler restaurant the décor is almost as much a part of your meal as the silverware on your table, and Gessler’s decorating often skews to the frenetic (peek in the door of her nearby restaurant Polka for a taste). Marcello, however, is surprisingly restrained and classy: muted white and blue stripes and stills from Italian-themed films like Roman Holiday are all that’s needed. Those familiar with Gessler’s Italian restaurant Gar in Warsaw will feel at home with the menu, which handles all the Italian staples like pasta, risotto and antipasti quite well. The true goldmine here is the pizza, and the Bianca alla Magda Gessler (catchy name) works magic with a mix of arugula, pine nuts, mushrooms and goat cheese.
