A tank comes in useful when visiting C i T, a Nowheresville restaurant hidden down one way streets and potholed roads. The bumpy ride sure is worth it, and to this day Ciągoty i Tęsknoty remains one of the undisputed highlights of culinary Lodz. While the surrounding area looks torn and frayed, the interiors here are pleasingly ethereal, with pastel colours and artsy prints generating the atmosphere of a country cottage. But there’s more to this place than a Hansel and Gretel look, and the food wins top ratings every time. Kick off with plums wrapped in bacon, before rounding off with the chicken in lemon sauce – nothing complicated, but excellence guaranteed.

Ignore the comments about the location and the suggestion that its hidden down some dim back street. This restaurant is absolutely superb and though pricey by Lodz standards (a meal for two cost 100 pln) there are cheaper options on the menu but the standards are superb throughout. I agree with the recommendation of plums wrapped in bacon. Delicious. The guide doesn't give advice on how to get there by Public Transport. I can never understand why. Its on Wojska Polskiego which is a main artery into the City from the north (eg Strykow, Lowicz and Warsaw). From the centre take tram 1 (from the stop near Fabryczna/Kilinkiego) or 6 (Struga or Zielona a stroll from Piotrkowska) in the direction of Strykowska. It will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the Sporna stop for both and walk forwards in the direction of the tram 100 metres. The restaurant is unmissable on your left. No tank required simply a healthy appetite. Smacznego!
Absolutely divine, everything from service to food was excellent. As you say, shame about the location, but I’ll be back, and next time with a girlfriend instead of a boss.
