Experymentarium

Whoa, here's a museum that makes science fun, and in a way that rather than ordering you to ‘keep away from the glass’, actively encourages visitors to ‘push’, ‘touch’ and ‘enter’. The experiments visitors get to play around with are the brainchild of Polish scientists and students, and revolve around ideas of light, sound, anatomy, nature and new discoveries. The space takes up 1,200m2 of the Manufaktura complex, and also features a wing designated for temporary exhibits from Polish and European institutions. Patrons include Łódź University and the Łódź Technical University. Your visit should take approximately 80 minutes, during which time you’ll wander a large open space filled with exhibitions. Currently the two main exhibits are Secrets of Physics, which includes mad light experiments, a ‘cosmic tunnel’, an area devoted to developing your senses of smell, hearing and touch without using your vision; and Treasures of the Pharaohs which explores everyday life in ancient Egypt (mummies galore!). There’s optical illusions, venetian mirrors, logic puzzles and plenty to keep you and the kids entertained. Always ones to keep on-the-ball, there’s also a constant twirl of temporary exhibits coming through the place. The Experymentarium can open at 09:00 by prior arrangement.

Admission to each exhibit Mon-Fri 11/8zł, Sat-Sun 13/9zł. Pass ticket (allowing you to see both exhibits) Mon-Fri 19/13zł, Sat-Sun 22/15zł.
"Happy hours" on Mon-Fri mornings 10:00 -11:00 - 4zł for each exhibit.
