The strange thing about U Honzika is just how unlikeable it looks from the outside – a narrow sunken doorway on a shabby street reserved for the students. So prepare for a shock on entry; this Czech themed bar has atmosphere in abundance – swirls of smoke, clunky furniture and walls lined with antique photos of Bohemian breweries. It’s like being in Prague in fact, and by that we mean the real bits, not the ones selling inflatable hats to touring Brits. The beer selection is fab as well, and that’s thanks to a proprietor whose chosen to import not just the best of Czech, but also Slovak, Ukrainian and Lithuanian beers as well – find them squeezed into all available fridge space.
