New club Baker Street has the makings of a hit: 2 levels, 2 dance floors, an easily accessible bar and effortlessly modern design. Yet the sparsely-populated club felt more like a night in our parents rec room, complete with Sir Mix-A-Lot on the boombox. Small groups of very young revellers clung together at tables instead of mixing on the dance floor (Fear of cooties? We can’t be sure), which added to the secondary school vibe. The popped-collared bartender was left with little more to do than stare at the flat screen TVs pumping in music videos. Admission is only charged on Fridays and Saturdays, and the price depends on the event.
