Pyra Bar

What’s a pyra you may well ask. Well pyry (plural) is a common term used by Poles to describe the inhabitants of Poznań (or Pyralandia as it is sometimes referred) and is one openly embraced by the locals. Pyry are simply ‘potatoes’ and the term is thought to have originated in the 19th century possibly from the French ‘puree’. Local souvenirs and even local awards have since incorporated this unofficial symbol of the city yet surprisingly then that this is the only genuine Potato Bar we have come across. The menu offers a selection of the noble potato prepared in baked, fried and casseroled forms as well as potato pancakes and of course chips. Our favourite is the zBoczek, a casserole that features bacon, onion and mozzarella cheese. Delicious and an absolute bargain.
