Although the water in Gdańsk meets rigid EU standards and is safe to drink, like any other water in a modern city its high chemical content can make it taste somewhat unpleasant. While water will arrive in a building looking nice and clear, how it runs out of the taps is at the mercy of the building in question's plumbing.
