Food & Drink
Sopot may be recognised as the region's party capital but the development of the city in recent years has seen the number and quality of places to eat markedly improve as well. Home to some pretty decent choices at this stage, you can now comfortably eat, drink and be merry all in one place.

Here are some recommendations depending on what you are looking for.

Local

Harnaś in the forest or Koliba on the beach. Both offer fortifying plates of meat and veg inside timber cottages that frequently rock to the sound of traditional mountain music. Alternatively try Elita which is refreshing in its attempts in not trying to attract the monied visitor and serves great Polish food at local prices.

Cheap

It’s Tesoro Express for the best pizza in Sopot or Greenway’s popularity with the local student community should be all the reference you need there for vegetarian options that are easy on the purse.

Exotic

Our current favourite is Avocado which mixes European and Asian food very, very well. Then there is InAzia, an ace Sheraton eatery serving the food of the orient, and the nearby ThaiThai in the Bayjonn Hotel with an open kitchen provided expert results.

Lads

Come the early hours everyone’s post-club favourite battleground is the wonderfully named Kebabistan, on the main drag which continues to be one of Poland’s best kebabs.

Couples

Cyrano et Roxane is good for low key trysts with an owner who will make you feel very important. With its secluded booths, great service and even better steaks, Barocco is another place to take the other half.

Splurge

Art Deco in the Sofitel has supreme sea views and a menu that will knock most wallets bandy. Local star chef Jacek Fedde now has his own restaurant minutes from the centre of Sopot, Tłusta Kaczka, where you can enjoy a top class meal in quiet surroundings.
