Warsaw Praga is a district where you can still meet courtyard bands and it retains a lot of its pre-war charm. There are attractive tenement houses, but it has received a lot of bad press making it unpopular as a tourist destination. That's why for two years a group of local enthusiasts have been organising an evening promoting Praga. Falling on the 10th Feb, this year will be the 364th anniversary of Praga gaining city status from King Władysław IV Waza. Here are some selected events that might interest someone who doesn't speak Polish. On Tuesday, February 7th at Za Kulisami, ul. Ratuszowa 4 there is a concert of Praga musicians. Another event that might interest English only speakers is a guided tour in English called 'The Mysteries of Praga'. Taking in the new and old parts of the district, it starts on February 10th at 12:00 at Melon Cafe, ul. Inżynierska 1. On the same day in Hydrozagadka, ul. 11 Listopada 22, there a concert and dancing with dance lesson of old classic Warsaw dances and the tasting of local snacks like Prague cake.
