Theatre On Wola [Teatr Na Woli im. Tadeusza Łomnickiego]

Theatre On Wola
What's so special about this theatre is that their plays have English 'supertitles', so it's an option for most foreign visitors. It is also a company of new ideas, covering political and social subjects. The underlying theme is the belief that high art should be a place of total artistic freedom, hence the 'Wolna Wola' (Free Will) sign. Founded in 1976 by respected theatre and movie actor Tadeusz Łomnicki, it has worked with top  directors like Wajda, Kutz, Polański and  Konchalovsky. Łomnicki left in 1981, signing off with a stellar performance as Salieri directed by Polański, who also took the role of Mozart. Of added interest to our English readers is the Pantomime Studio, lead by Bartłomiej Ostapczuk, which organises a Mime Art Festival every summer. The theatre also puts on plays on the Przodownik Stage at ul. Olesińska 21 (Mokotów).

Tickets 20-70zł.
