Making a stir with Warsaw’s intellectuals is Cafe Próżna, a cracking cafe set inside a shattered building that looks ready to keel over. You’ll be lucky to find a seat inside this narrow venue, even more so if there’s a lecture or reading going on. Decorated with pre-war photographs, Próżna comes with a pile of well-thumbed history books in the entrance, tiny tea candles and a basement level to soak up any overflow of customers. The only disappointment here are the smoothies; nowhere near as good as the venue deserves.
