Not sure my last comment got published. Beautiful decor, super service but cripplingly expensive (75 GBP per head on our last visit). Also substituted some of the ingredients which is not acceptable in restaurant of this quality with such a limited and never changing menu. Will not return.

We went to Papu with friends on Saturday evening, my third visit and their first. The stunning Christmas decor, welcome, warmth and service were as usual impeccable but we were shocked and horrified by a few things. Firstly, the price (1120 PLN for 4 of us - 70 pounds a head - ordinary bottles of white wine for 35 pounds - what nonsense); secondly, the fact that food turned up nothing like it was described on the menu (my 37PLN sun dried tomato, parmesan and mushroom salad starter lacked both sun dried tomatoes and parmesan shavings - unforgiveable - and was a heap of fried mushrooms on lettuce. Our friend's strawberries and ice cream had one strawberry and 12 grapes and one scoop of ice cream - again for 30 pln; thirdly the menu is very narrow and POlish, and like Zielnik their sister restaurant which we've also stopped going to, fully of pike, pierrogi and veal - no main course chicken dishes, nothing Western other than the lava stone offerings, with starters being particularly hard to find anything you'd want. We won't be going there again sadly.
