Strangely enough, bears have been living on the concrete island in Praski Park since 1949; over 400 have been reared here before being packed off to zoos, safari parks and circuses around the globe. Although the bears look rather sleepy they can still pack a punch. Several years ago a drunken idiot was savaged after jumping into the enclosure. The two current well-rested residents are called Tatra and Turnia.
