Dedicated to the Soviet soldiers who died during the ‘liberation’ of Warsaw, this monument has been removed due to the construction of a new Metro station and will spend some time being restored before relocating 80 metres down the road on Pl. Wileński (towards ul. Cyryla i Metodego). Erected in the immediate aftermath of WWII, the rusting edifice is the city's least loved memorial and is often littered with graffiti (though the clean-up should temporarily take care of this). Its Praga location is quite apt - this was where the Red Army halted their advance in 1944, while Nazi troops put down the Warsaw Uprising and then demolished the city.
