Wrocław Philharmonic

The Witold Lutosławski Philharmonic in Wrocław represents one part of the long history of city's Philharmonic, which began in this building in 1878. Over the years Johannes Brahms, Joseph Joachim, Edward Grieg, Gustav Mahler and Max Bruch have all been guests here. After WWII, a new group of enthusiasts brought the Philharmonic back to life and the Wrocław Philharmonic was created in 1954 with Witold Lutosławski becoming its patron in 1994.
