Abrams' Tower
There’s a deluge of Mexican eateries in Wrocław, and absolutely none get it right – if anything you’ll be lucky to come away with your guts in one piece. Bucking that trend is Abrams’ Tower, a magnificent restobar overseen by Frederick Abrams, a Californian native whose done the unthinkable and introduced quality Mexican food to the city. On offer are a line of fajitas and quesadillas, though our pick are the burritos, made using fresh tortillas, real cheddar cheese, Mexican rice and red kidney beans. Bliss. And this place isn’t short on atmosphere either, but that’s what happens when you choose to locate yourself inside a restored 13th century tower. A must-visit, and if not for the food then a look at the bargirls.

The owners have obviously been reading the ‘How not to run a Mexican restaurant’ manual, a best seller in this part of the world. Your burritos here come buried under cabbage and green tomatoes, while the accompanying salsa has the crunching kick of a glass of milk. Amazingly quiet nigh [...]

A compact interior includes a chandelier crafted from Corona bottles, cacti and Aztec masks, and you may have to ring in advance to guarantee a table; the natives regard this as the best Mexican joint in town, and as such it’s frequently packed to the gills. Do they know something we don̵ [...]

Bathed in a permanent half light Stara Kanapa is an appealing space scattered with retro sofas, chunky radio sets and pictures of  scantily-clad beauty queens waving their legs in the air. Although better known as a nighttime venue they’re proud to proclaim a list of Mexican eats, though when we dropped by there was no English menu and furthermore no service. We left, hungry, and we’ve seen nothing to suggest that others won’t share our fate.  [...]

The Mexican
Is the Polish food in Mexico this bad? The face details here are great, with a zippy interior that could have been plucked straight from the reels of a spaghetti western, and a staff of sexy tequila girls who are very easy on the eye. But yay Gods the food here is a fiasco. Take the burritos for example; a bit of digging around reveals undercooked tortillas hiding under heaps of cabbage, and florid goo that wastes little time in unblocking the digestive system. Amazingly plenty of people eat here, and pay for the privilege. Let us know if you find a worse meal in the city, we could do with a good laugh.
