Medal Museum [Muzeum Sztuki Medalierskiej]

Note that this museum is now closed permanently and its collection moved to the History Museum where part remains on display.

A staggering 50,000 medals, lockets, orders and badges are kept in row after row of display cases. It’s taken since 1965 for the museum to amass the collection, and though there’s very little explanation as to their significance, even in Polish, that shouldn’t deter true enthusiasts. Stamps and moulds used to fashion medals, around 7,000 dusty old tomes and 650 manuscripts are also housed within the walls of the museum. As a sign of Wrocław’s strong ties with what is now Ukraine, visitors can also peruse a giant scale model of 18th century Lvov in the final room.

Admission 15/10zł. English-speaking guided tour, 50zł; audio guides in English and German, 10zł.
