Surprisingly, for a town that boasts the title of Poland’s winter capital, Zakopane’s nightlife is neither varied nor particularly interesting. Most drinking goes on in the restaurants, and the clubs tend to be of the variety that attract beefy lads flexing outdoing each other in the idiot stakes. There are however some absolute diamonds, in particular Paparazzi, Antrakt Café and Va Va Voom. The action is all concentrated on Krupówki, so it’s just a case of starting at the top and rolling all the way down, knocking the bars off as you pass.

They do pour the local beer extremely well, though! The bar may be small but it is very welcoming and particularly well stocked....
