What would Brasov be without the Cerbul de Aur? Since 1968 (with a hiatus from 1972-1991) this has been Romania's answer to the San Remo Festival, a chance for upcoming local pop talent to compete against international performers. Traditionally, the festival is usually topped off with a concert from one of the biggest names in music. Not always, however. While some years saw the likes of Tom Jones, Joe Cocker, Kylie Minogue and Diana Ross perform, others have had to make do with some bloke from Modern Talking.

Really.

Last year the organisers (Romanian Television; TVR) invited the biggest names in local music to perform.

This year's plans (except the dates: September 1-6) are not yet known.
