Public Transport in Brasov

If you keep to the main tourist area of Brasov (Old Town and Schei), the only bus route of any interest will be the No. 4 – Brasov Station (Gara) to Livada Postei; as well as the minibus (microbuz, in Romanian) route No. 50 – Livada Postei to Pe Tocile/Piata Unirii. 

Of note too is the bus No. 20, which serves Poiana Brasov (and departs Brasov from Livada Postei).

Tickets for Brasov’s buses must be bought from an RAT kiosk before boarding, and stamped in the little machines once on board. There is a fine of 50 lei if you are caught with no ticket, or a unstamped ticket.

Taxis are cheap in Brasov and better than busses for longer distances. Just make sure you take a taxi belonging to a trusted Brasov taxi company such as Martax (tel. 0268 313 040).

If in doubt, ask a local if the taxi is OK, or call one.
