Recommended not only by us, but by our friends at Lonely Planet, Active Travel is a local provider of hiking, trekking and biking tours on Piatra Craiului, Bucegi and the Fagaras mountains. They also offer rent-a-bike, standard day trips of Brasov and the region (including Bran and Peles castles, Sighisoara, Viscri), rafting, paragliding, ski touring, and ski instruction. 

As of April 2, 2012 Active will be running a set tour of Brasov, Bran Castle and Rasnov Fortress every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The meeting point is the Tourist Information Centre on Piata Sfatului, and the tour departs at 09:30. The cost is €22 per person, and the tour will run as long there are a minimum two people. The price includes an English-speaking guide and transport.

  I went on a one day trek summer 2011 with a friend which was fantastic. We were only in Brasov for a short while and gave very short notice. Our Guide was very accomodating and was very keen for us to enjoy the trek and take in the sights of the Romanian mountains. He had a good sense of humour too! Charlie
