Brasov's picture-postcard main street leads from Piata Eroilor up to Piata Sfatului, and in summer is one massive terrace. Indeed, it is often difficult to work out which terrace belongs to which pub or cafe (especially this year as they all have the same umbrellas). Fully pedestranises, Republicii is lined with three and four storey houses, and is packed with courtyards, most of hwich hide little bars and pubs. Though not all of the street's properties are yet back to tip-top condition, slowy, but surely, many are being renovated, and done so with taste: there are strict rules on the kind of decor, windows etc. building owners can use.
