Malagamba

What a name, what a place. An Italian (with a twist) restaurant of the old school (in that the food is what counts first and foremost), this Irish-owned eatery next to the Comedy Theatre is terrific. Wanting to stand out from the crowd the team behind it have gone to great lengths to do so, coming up with all sorts of treats, such the as lime and basil sorbet: already a legend amongst Bucharest foodies. Regular kids events at the weekend. Malagamba by the way was a Romanian musician, composer and director who frequented these parts in the 1930s and 40s.

As a Romanian that likes to eat out a lot I have to recommend Malagamba. It is quite rare to find this standard of food and service in this city. I see the other reviews are also very positive and they have right.

Had a most enjoyable evening here recently. Great food and the service was really genuinely friendly and efficient. Tried some of the non Italian dishes and we were very impressed. Decent wine selection at very reaonable prices. Recommended.

Delightful Place. Food was great service was professional and friendly but not overly fussy. They had a girl to entertain the kids with face painting while we ate and to cap it off they provided a bicycle rickshaw (no charge) to transport us to the taxi stand. Brilliant!

I have eaten there several times and have to fully agree with everything written in the comments of others. It's one of my favorites in Bucharest at any price. Service is excellent and friendly the food is delicious and prices very reasonable. I will be eating there whenever I can.

I don't often write reviews but I have to recommend the lunch at Malagamba for 15 lei. For the type of food they serve this is very very good. I have become a regular customer.

Really Great! Everything we tasted was good and fresh. Staff was efficient and very friendly. Good value for money too as it was not expensive especially the wines which I noticed other restaurants are charging a lot more for.

Fabulous casual atmosphere and really delicious food. Awesome desserts served with a genuine smile. Sooo happy to have discovered this place and went back more than once. It was cosistently good even with different staff at various times. Had both lunches and dinners there and all were excellent. Prices were very reasonable for super quality food and I trained as a chef so I reckon I know what I'm talking about.

This place is real gem. The food is really tasty and fresh. Even the pasta is freshly made. The friendly staff are super. I really love this place. I spoke with the the owner an Irish guy who says he is trying to offer 5 star food and service at 3 star prices and I think he has succeeded. It's bloody great!

The tomatoe soup is delicious and the salamis are the genuine Italian product. Pastas cooked al dente, the beef excellent and the desserts tres orgasmic! Wine list even had my favourit Pinot Gris from Alsace. Very very good!

Excellent value. I don't know how this standard of cuisine can be done for this price. I had grown used to paying 3 or 4 times these prices for this level of dining in this city. I hope they don't read this and decide to put up their prices.

The food here was simply gorgeous and the service was friendly and efficient (unusual for Romania I am sorry to say). Really fantastic food in a really cool casual atmosphere. Can't recommend it highly enough.
