White Horse

The White Horse has been around so long it should probably consider going out to stud. Or should it? On a recent visit we found it to be in surprisingly good shape, and packed with both locals of the ‘ordinary people’ variety, as well as group of rowdy expats. There is still good food in the more formal part upstairs, with bar snacks served down, and though we have always loved the square bar.

I am now a big fan of this place despite what I wrote a year ago. It has a lot to do with a great barmaid called Nicolette and a black cat the wanders in during the afternoons. However,I still think the management have got it totally wrong with regards to not being allowed to eat downstairs in the bar though, but I can now live with that.

A good pub for an afterwork drink also Nicollette is Romanias champion Stella pourer (true she even went to world finals in London and came 5th overall)reasonable priced beer but bar food down stairs problematic,easy place to find and not full of expat brits after your money like some other so called English Pubs I could name (Very Quitely ).They also run La Belle Epoque belgian pub around the corner which also good and the food is better.

Rubbish pub now. I mean I do like the bar, however I get the right 'ump whenever I order food and I am not allowed to eat it downstairs where I am sitting at the bar. I mean who the fuck is paying for my meal eh? ME!!!So I should be able to eat it wherever the fuck I like.

Was there Monday 9 March 09. Arrived around 9 in the evening. Was surprised there where so many guests in a Monday evening. Had a chicken breast “White Horse” on the grill with sour cream and mashed potatoes. No surprises neither positive nor negative. My partner was please with her tuna fish salad. Good service and nice atmosphere. Reasonable priced. I have been here a couple of times before, and will be back.Also the pub at the ground floor was pretty busy for a Monday.
