Cafeneaua Carada

Large, impressive new cafe next to Romania's national bank, where the big windows looking out onto one of the city's few busy pedestrian streets are what will have you heading inside. Great coffee and cocktails, it is the perfect meeting place and works well as either coffee house or bar. Add in a gallery (what you see is on sale) and you have the kind of place Bucharest really needs.

A fine, large and finely restored location. However there isn't much else to enjoy, as they pass quickly from a violin concert to contemporary radio music with the volume turned to the maximum. And if asked to turn it a bit down, the answer is that "it's Friday evening and we're having a party" (even though nobody in the location looked like having one, except, maybe, for the staff). Other than that, the service hardly gets 2 stars, with clumsy waiters that do not know how to serve wine and approach men first. A typical 'much ado' place.
