Haveli

Convincingly authentic Indian cuisine served in a brightly decorated villa, where the sauces are by nature toned down for locals but where chef will - with pleasure - spice things up for the more experienced diner. We like the long list of vegetarian dishes, of which the Bhangan Bharta (aubergine with tomato and onion) is a particular favourite.

It is THE favored restaurant of the Indian community in Bucharest. The same dish in India can be prepared multiple different ways depending on specific region. Perfect example is Romania; outside Bucharest Romania food is good, and inside Bucharest.. it is ... well... as you all said. The adventures of pointy-shoes Miere should be limited to such places as La Mama or KFC if youre looking for fine cuisine a Romanian can be proud of.

I think its too much what was writen by Arthur Robertscu,Miere and legend of Bucharest.Even its look like one person by different nicknames wrote this.I think that he has his own restaurant, and cooking there as well,he knows all the the ingredients(specially of his favorite dish Bengan Bharta),even more than expirieced chef from Haveli.

@ Arthur Robertscu: I totally agree with you mate! That cheese dick "Miere USA Romania" is indeed talking clearly out of his or here Anus! If I was there that night and they (Miere & sad wannabe friends) had lefted all that gorgeous food on their table I would have gladly forked it off their plates. Obviously 99.9% of Romanians still don't know nothing about quality good food, FACT!!!!!

@Miere USA? ROMANIA, You're cleary talking out of your Anus, FACT!!! And you stated that you are indeed a Romanian yourself. Well what the ruddy hell does a Romanian know about good food anyhow eh? You sound like another Romanian who thinks they were born rich and has good taste etc etc..

Nice looking place, pleasant service, convenient location, large and interesting menu. Unfortunately the food is a big disappointment. A few dishes are good, one or two are very good, but the rest are mediocre to dreadful. The Bhangan Bharta (recommended above) was the worst: it was prepared with cream! This is a favourite Indian dish that we have enjoyed at dozens (hundreds?) of Indian restos on two continents - - as well as at private homes of several Indian friends, and at a cooking class taught by a renowned Indian chef - - and assure you that this is a dish that does not include cream amongst its ingredients. How could an Indian resto located around the corner from the Indian Embassy make such an error? If it had tasted good we could have forgiven the addition, but unfortunately it did not. One of the appetizers was so sweet it was almost dessert. Another dish had a glue-like texture. Just awful. When we left the entire dish of Bhangan Bharta barely touched, along with half of several other barely-edible dishes, no one on staff bothered asking if there was a problem with the food. (We were a group of native Romanians, and non-Romanians who speak passable Romanian language, so communication was not the issue.) Also be cautioned that Haveli is located in a heavily Gypsy area; be careful, esp at night. Bucuresti has so many wonderful restos - - sadly this is not one of them, although I wish it were.
