They call these places 'your dining room in the city,' and given the homely food and cheap prices (the lunchtime deals are just about unbeatable) they might just be right. Don’t expect haute cuisine, but do expect big portions of simple Romanian food. We like the carnati de plescoi, tasty smoked sausages made with mutton and pork. There's a good selection of local beers to choose from too.

I enjoyed City Grill, during my short stay in Bucharest I went there three times, however, I did not have a car and did not want to travel very far for a meal. The staff was helpful, they had lunch specials and they made sure that you were aware of them. I liked their mici, they were tasty and quite large in size. I had the tripe soup as well and that was good too. I would definately go back. One thing that I do not like about the service in Romania (and this was true for City Grill as well) is that after they bring you the food they rarely come by to ask you how everything is, usually the next time you see the waiter is when he brings you the bill. In my case they forgot to bring me a side salad I ordered and the next time I had a chance to talk to the waiter was when he brought me the bill. - 02

Belonging to one of the two owners that created La Mama years ago, this place is the city-esque version of La Mama (which wanted to be more on the traditional side). Average to low quality service, average dishes. A bit better than a fast food, but the same general image like at La Mama.
