The bad news is that there's a shockingly small amount of bookshops in Bucharest, but the good news is that there are a few real gems amongst the bunch. There's a few second-hand bookshops and kiosks (good for stuff on Romania's past) in and around Piata Universitatii, including a small side-street (Str. Ion Nistor) that are worth checking out.

Anthony Frost English Bookshop

Stocks a good range of fiction, an exceptional range of non-fiction, plenty of children's books, and a decent selection of books about Romania and Bucharest. Read_on (5 Comments)

Libraria Bastilia

On Piata Romana, in a huge villa dating from 1913 this is a fine bookshop with a cafe in the attic. Regularly hosts book launches, readings and children's activities. Read_on (No Comments)

Nautilus

Sala Dalles
