Anthony Frost English Bookshop

Stocks a good range of fiction, an exceptional range of non-fiction, plenty of children's books, and a decent selection of books about Romania and Bucharest.

First of all there is no website which is very disconcerting. Are we in 2011? Thus you cannot find out about promotions new acquisitions discounts etc.Second the prices are very high; maybe a used books section could help?...and third you cannot sit down anywhere and leaf through the books and are bound to leave after 15-20 min because of feet exhaustion....but indeed it is!!

Wow! I most be living in a Romania from a parallel universe, because I never saw a bookshop where ALL the books are face-forwards on the shelves. This is stupid... There are, indeed, A FEW bookshops where SOME of the more popular books are face-forwards, but that's just for advertising (and most of the time they are displayed on special shelves, built just for this purpose) But no, we broke the sacred rules of book-shelving!We must be barbarians! Never mind there is a little thing called "creativity". Maybe the English need us to teach them how to think outside the box... And that comment about comparing the "literary traditions of the two countries"? Come on, it's easy to give the impression Romanian literary tradition is inferior when very few outside our borders actually know something about it. You can't fairly compare two things unless you have thoroughly studied them.

Seems whoever wrote this thought Romanians are nothing but cavemen. "Books are arranged on shelves spine-forwards". Hell, what's next, you guys are gonna teach us how to make fire or the wheel?

wow, what a stupid review! fortunately you won't find the same arrogant attitude in the bookshop.

When we asked the owners of "Anthony Frost" why do they keep advertising as "the first (real) English bookshop in Bucharest" as long as they used to come and visit Nautilus Bookstore for ten years, they explained it was a missunderstanding and only the media is to be blamed. Is it?
