Bucuresti Mall

Recently extended in a major redevelopment, this is now a real shopping centre, with plenty of stores you can actually spend money in. Debenhams (over three floors, no less) is the biggest pull, but Zara, Marks & Spencer, Lacoste, Mothercare, Z and hundreds of other brands also help to bring the punters in.

Nice place but is it a shopping centre or a high security prison. Yes its a big step up for Bucharest shoppers but it is spoilt (as far as I am concerned) by some over zealous security. When you arrive you cannot miss the blue clad BGS security staff complete with body armour strutting their stuff throughout the centre. I even saw one of them tell off a customer who had the timorousness to lean on a hand rail (well what are they for anyway!!) in the central atrium to look down on the shops.Even worse as I hobbled to the taxi area (having broken my foot some weeks ago and now using a stick) I leant on a large plant holder for support only to be accosted by some steroid bound BGS guard telling me to move on. The stick and foot in plaster did not interest him. Nice place spoilt by security. There are better places to shop in Bucharest. More welcoming as well. A few more smiles would help, we have a choice where we spend our money!!
