Making excellent use of the wide open spaces of the Parliament Palace, this vast gallery displays the work of Romania's finest contemporary artists. There are also works on display by international artists, and regular topical exhibitions. We think it's one of the highlights of the city's cultural scene and one of few museums in Bucharest which is genuinely essential. Plus, a visit here has the added bonus of getting you into the Casa Poporului without taking the guided tour.

I enjoyed my visit in May 2013 - we saw the exhibition of the works of Mircea Cantor. There is a cafe on the 4th floor - with the terrace being refurbished while we were there! Indeed, excellent views of the city from there.

I think it was a great disappointment. There were only 35 works in the permanent collection. Poorly lighted. And nothing else to see! So, when there is no special exhibition, I don't think it's worth the visit.I didn't see any cafe!!
