Visas

EU citizens do not need visas to enter the country and may stay in Romania for as long as they please. US and Canadian citizens can enter Romania without a visa and may stay in the country for 90 days. Norwegian and Swiss citizens are similarly exempt from visa requirements, and may also stay 90 days.

Holders of almost all other passports must procure a visa from a Romanian embassy outside of Romania before travelling, and on arrival will also need to show that they have a return ticket, and at least US$100 for each day that they intend to stay in the country. Exceptions are not made. If you arrive without your paperwork in order, you will not be allowed inside the country and will be deported at your own expense.
