It’s still a mystery as to why this expansive basement restaurant is always so empty, but don’t let the lack of other diners put you off, there’s still much to be enjoyed here. El Faro’s stock in trade is Iberian cuisine, promising dishes from across the peninsula, although the real focus is on Portugal. Highlights of the menu include traditional Portuguese cataplana (a stew cooked in a special copper cauldron), steaks and seafood – especially revered are the mussels and Portuguese prawns.
